Description

The name of Samaná comes from the old Taíno, who wrote it as Xamaná thanks to the first Chroniclers of the Indies. The meaning of the word is not entirely clear but it is thought that in Phoenician it means ‘Place where the Carthaginian chief Zammna arrived. The indigenous people pronounced that name as Chamana.
Cayo Levantado is also known as Bacardi Island, thanks to a 1970 Rum commercial that attracted many tourists. On this visit you will discover abundant vegetation, coconut trees, and marine fauna and flora but in addition, you will discover one of the best in Samaná; Cayo Levantado Beach. A beach with fine white sand, waters with great visibility and different blue tones.
A majestic waterfall of 40 meters high and whose water remains fresh all year round. You can cool off in the waterfall, see native plants, such as the white cigua or the royal palm, or enjoy impressive views.
